Ash Breath

Solar Bird

Ash Breath is the first part of Solar Bird’s four-part cycle «Solar Requiem: Ash to Core».
It is a musical reflection on burnout and decomposition — both personal and global. Here, the protagonist experiences catastrophe, echoing the tension of today’s world: scorched rhythms of megapolises, social and environmental crises, the sense that we are all living at a breaking point.

The sonic palette of the EP fuses industrial techno, layers of synthesizer textures, and live flute, which sounds like a human breath on the edge.
Spark of Collapse
The EP opens with a track about the moment of ignition. A spark — and the process of destruction becomes irreversible. The composition features the musical motif Dies Irae, a medieval hymn about Judgment Day, which adds a meta-historical context to the release.
The bass and textures are created with the FLUX synthesizer, giving the music a dense, breathing character that shapes the sense of catastrophe erupting from a spark. FLUX also interacts with the live flute: at the beginning and the end, it practically “holds” its breath, creating a unified acoustic space.
Cauterize
The central track is culmination and combustion.
The entire foundation of the composition is built on the PULSAR-23 drum machine, which becomes the heart of the track: its rhythms sound like flames that can no longer be stopped. The flute here breaks through the massive techno soundscape, like human breathing that persists even amid chaos. Its line is tense and anxious, by the end of the piece, it transforms almost into a scream and cuts off sharply, like a final exhale before silence.
Lung of Dust
This composition is extremely minimalistic: it features just two instruments — TERRA and flute. TERRA creates a desert landscape where every note sounds like an ashen echo.
The slow flute melody suggests a world still alive, but covered by a thick layer of ash, where the future remains unclear. At the end, the Dies Irae motif is quoted again.

«Ash Breath is not just a musical experiment, but an attempt to experience and express the state of burnout that many share today. Through the metaphors of fire, ash, and breath, Solar Bird explores the idea that even after destruction, revival follows.
This is the first part of a larger 4-part cycle, with each subsequent chapter exploring awakening, formation, and finding ground», —
